However you choose to design your grading scheme, you may want to keep the following two points in mind:
- You can make regular attendance part of the grade. The students who show up all the time get more practice and tend to improve faster. Furthermore, for choral practice, more voices are easier to tune, which means that an absent student slows down the progress of the rest of the choir.
- If you give regular graded assignments, the students know exactly where they stand, and have fewer grounds for complaint at the end of the semester.
